Amber Rabie

Amber grew up in Southern Maryland into a very creative household. She was always working on something, even if she wasn't quite sure what yet. It wasn't until college that she explored oil painting and ceramics. Call it a “flow state”, or hyperfixation; whatever it is, she found it in these mediums.

She graduated with a dual major in Studio Art and Graphic Design and eventually found her way into intellectual property law. When she's not at her 9-5, Amber is usually painting, embroidering Tatreez, or dabbling with new crafts (at the moment of writing this, she's trying sewing).

In the beginning of 2026, she signed up for a hand-building class at Potters Union on a whim and rediscovered her love for ceramics. Now, she enjoys blending her love of painting and sculpture to make practical, functional ceramics.

For Amber, pottery has become a type of somatic therapy. What better way to stay grounded than literal clay from the earth? She's also driven by the desire to explore and preserve cultural traditions.

Amber's philosophy is: better an "oops!" than a "what if?". If you're on the fence about trying something new, just go for it! You miss 100% of the pots you don't make.

Outside the studio, she's probably hanging with her partner Darrin and their two cats, Revan and Malak, who are her purrfect muses.
