SC-023 Jack Of Lantern
Description:
Stroke & Coat is a versatile glaze that can be applied to wet clay, earthenware bisque, or stoneware bisque and fired from cone 06 to cone 10 in oxidation or reduction.
Ideal for detailed designs, its colors stay in place without running or blending into adjacent colors. When used for majolica decoration, even light colors remain distinct over darker shades. Colors can be mixed to create custom shades or thinned with water or a suitable medium for watercolor effects. The liquid color closely resembles the fired color, making results easier to visualize.
Stroke & Coat fires to a glossy finish without a clear glaze, with two to three coats providing opaque coverage.
Jack O’Lantern firing results:
- Cone 06 oxidation: One coat produces a translucent finish. Apply two to three coats for full, opaque coverage and a glossy finish without clear glaze.
- Cone 6 oxidation: The glaze becomes transparent, and the color lightens slightly.
Sample chips show results on white clay fired flat at cone 06 and cone 6 in oxidation. Clay body, application thickness, firing conditions, and temperature can affect the finished appearance.
